My Project

I believe that representation matters. Students need to see themselves in literature. Our library is aging and is lacking in books that show students from diverse cultures. These books will not just benefit the students in my classroom, but will be used by the entire school.

Research has shown that when students are able to connect to what they read, they are more likely to keep reading.

It is our duty as educators to make sure that we are helping students see the relevance in their learning. These types of books are important for all students - not just diverse cultures.
