Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class bustles with excitement from a energetic group of boys, age seven to eleven. Their affectionate smiles and candid comments make it easy to enjoy being in the classroom. They love to play, but engaging them in learning is not always easy. Due to varying skill levels, much of our academic instruction is provided in small groups or one to one.
My students are multiple grades behind in content area skills and need explicit instruction and repeat practice to learn.
My Project
Some find it funny, but I call it my reality. Often after my kids are on the bus in the afternoon, I sprint to my room to laminate unit materials, schedules, behavior checklists, you name it! Engaging my students with hands-on activities and giving them lots of opportunities to engage with the information or practice a skill continues to be the key to success.
But the truth remains, my kids are rough on materials.
Paper material including file folder activities must be laminated in order to last for additional practice and other materials like dry erase markers just have to be replenished. Your support of this project will help replenish some essential classroom materials for the new school year.
