This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very creative and extremely hard working. Many of my students have never had someone who believed in them. Through incorporating teamwork, geometry, communication arts, and theatre, my students have excelled in cross-curriculum education in my stagecraft class. The 2015-16 school year, DonorsChoose helped my students bridge the curriculum barriers and even receive a total of 4 nominations for theatrical awards in the Kansas City area. DonorsChoose has helped change their lives and helped give me additional supplies to assist in their education and success.
My Project
These materials will help me replenish my old supplies for my students in stagecraft. Our screws are old and stripped, rubber mallet broken, out of tape and batteries, paint brushes and rollers are worn out, and we need Phillips screwdrivers. These materials will help them construct the set for our spring musical this year and possibly assist them in award nominations at the end of the school year. My students take so much pride in their work and appreciate all the assistance we can get since we don't have much of a budget for our department. My students always give each project their all and the audience is never disappointed in the final product of the scenic design and construction process.
