Help me give my students basic supplies to make art. These are supplies to replenish our art program and sustain our elementary/middle school learners through creative expression, increase healthy coping skills, and develop problem solving skills.
Our school is a low-income, Title I community with approximately 300 students of all abilities and levels. We have a high number of students from trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
The Art Room is a special place where everyone can be successful.
Art education is a powerful place to process emotions and practice SEL (social-emotional learning) along with growth mindset development.
My Project
This project seeks to replenish our basic supplies. In the art room, markers, paint, bins, and tools are the necessities, not "extras". Over the course of time, our art supplies get used up, tools occasionally break from regular wear, and we need to freshen up our stock.
We are excited to see donors from all around could help us stock up our dwindling art supplies.
Our public school is title 1 with a majority of students living in a low-income situation. Things we might take for granted that they have at home (like printer paper, markers, and crayons) many of them ONLY have access to AT SCHOOL in the ART ROOM.
Art class at school might be the only place a child is granted permission to indulge their creative passions and explore intuitive problem solving. Making a mess when getting creative can lead to higher student engagement, excitement, and motivated learners! These kids need to be able to paint and get a little messy! It's a healthy part of childhood development. Art classes are critical learning areas!
