I am a third-grade classroom teacher from a Title I school with over 50% of the students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. My students are kind hearted and passionate learners who are very active! They enjoy moving around the classroom and appreciate positive attention and choices.
Many of my students face challenges beyond their control.
I am looking for simple ways to help them become inspired and grow as learners. I want them to come to school and see a place that is safe, comfortable, and flexible enough to meet their needs.
My Project
This year I am teaching an amazing group of 3rd graders in the remote learning environment. Teaching remotely is definitely a challenge I never thought I would be facing. With a little bit of creativity and a lot of determination, my students and I finding new ways to be successful in a digital learning environment. However, as with all types of learning even digital learning requires supplies.
Through this project, I will be able to send my students a fresh set of pencils and whiteboards to keep them learning from home as well as be able to purchase a variety of new digital resources to use in my virtual lesson plans.
New whiteboards will help my students to continue to engage and interact with our class during our whole group zoom meetings. Also, I would love to be able to send home a fresh set of pencils to each of my students in their next supply pick up. Teaching in a virtual environment requires making changes to the way that I have taught in the past. Often we need different resources to make this happen. Not everything we have used in the past can easily be converted into a digital format. Through this project, I will receive a gift card to teachers pay teachers. This will allow me to purchase new digital resources to enhance my reading, math, social studies, and science lessons. This would truly benefit my students and be a time saver for me as a teacher in a year where I have a lot of extra responsibilities on my plate.
