Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students attend an urban public school in Oklahoma that serves grades 9 to 12. A full 85% of our students receive a free or reduced-price lunch. My students are lower middle class, and most are in single-parent homes or live with grandparents. My students do not come with supplies and rely on the school for basic classroom needs.

My students are creative, thoughtful, and inquisitive!

They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!

I want my students to have equal access to resources despite our inability to provide this. My students want to learn, and we are responsible for providing the tools necessary to do so.

My Project

The school year is halfway gone, and so are the basic supplies in our classrooms!

My students would greatly benefit from a replenishment of basic school supplies, supplies to keep us healthy, and some new supplies to help them complete upcoming projects.

I look forward to watching my students continue to grow throughout the school year and demonstrate the knowledge they have acquired, but I have to make sure they still have the basic supplies to be able to do so.

I have wonderful projects planned for my students. We have in-class projects that require artistic creativity with poetry projects and storyboard projects for Poetry Month this April.

Please consider helping my kids acquire what they need to become lifelong lovers of learning. They (along with me) will be forever grateful!
