Replace Slow Mechanical Hard Drives With Solid State Drives
Help me give my students solid state hard drives to speed up existing computers. It is cheaper and more efficient to upgrade old mechanical hard drives in existing computers than to buy a single new computer.

My Students
Hi Folks, I work in Oakland, CA in one of the most challenged neighborhoods. The students come from backgrounds with real financial and social challenges.
My goal is to facilitate real hands-on skills that eventually translate into the workforce.
Over 90% of the students in our school come from households where English is not spoken in the home. Everyone gets free breakfast and lunch daily.
I am fortunate in that I have support from the administration and a huge classroom with space and time to work on these activities.
My Project
Solid State Drives (SSDs) are ten (10) or more times faster than mechanical hard drives. These SSDs will speed up our existing computers for a small investment.
The faster our computers go, the more time students will have to do tasks in their allocated time.
One program in-particular is X-Plane 11. Students love to fly airplanes using the simulator during the 30 minute lunch break, but it takes a super long time to load the program and to change airplanes.
These SSDs will allow all of our computers to be upgraded in the class/lab and will extend the life of our computer by a number of years.
