My kindergarten students are at an age where everything is new and interesting. They are constantly making sense of their world and figuring things out. I influence how they may see the world and they influence how I see the world. The impact we have on one another is significant, to say the least!
These kindergarteners in my care have shown incredible resilience, especially considering the amount of devastation and loss they have experienced due to recent wildfires taking their homes and school.
My students and their families are getting through this tragedy and they have stayed dedicated to our school. They deserve every bit of normalcy possible and it is my goal to help attain it.
My Project
When I started in kindergarten I knew I was going to need to play music with my students, so I decided to buy a small Martin LX-1 guitar for our room. Students were always intrigued by just seeing the guitar and even more excited when we would play and sing songs together. It also helped with classroom management.
Playing guitar with my students made them happy and more eager to learn.
These two aforementioned things are much needed at the moment. All of my students are currently displaced due to the recent fires, so helping provide happiness, safety and security has been paramount since our return to school. My students will be thrilled to have the musical parts of our day return to their routines!
