This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very talented, young individuals who come from a high poverty section of New York. They face challenges inside the school to succeed and do their best, and they struggle outside of school to not allow their environment to stop them from achieving their dreams. We are a one hundred percent free lunch school. Our students strive to become role models and leaders for their community.

This year for me is extremely different and challenging.

After being the art teacher at my school for 19 years, this year I am a 4th grade teacher.

My Project

With such uncertain times, I am looking to give my students the best remote learning experience next school year. An iPad that fully functions will make my online teaching a better opportunity for all. I am doing live synchronous instruction all day, every day, and having technology that has no issues will make the online learning experience a happy one for all. This past school year, my microphone would constantly stop working and the lessons had to be stopped so I could fix them. I have a Chromebook but need an additional device to use while teaching so I can use the whiteboard, share my screen and see my students while I’m sharing my screen. Not only can this iPad be used during the remote learning time, but then when we are finally able to return to school, my students can use the iPad in one of my centers.
