My students need an Elmo Wireless Tablet. The Tablet allows the students and teacher to sever the tether of the stationary Elmo and to roam the room easily, including all.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are challenged economically. They lack the access to technology that is the backbone of our society. Exposing them to the wonders that exist opens their minds to imagine what could be if they work hard and learn. Many of my students lack access to computers and need training. So I advocate.
We are located in an economically disadvantaged area in Antioch Ca.
Ever more increasingly I witness businesses shuttered throughout or neighborhood. Our clientele is mostly Hispanic with a growing African American component. These are wonderful energetic children that often times are labeled as underachieving feel that it is the lack of resources that slows their success. With increased opportunity I see a group of students, many bilingual, that are totally capable of economic success. We do our best with what we have but they hunger for the technology dangled in front of them by Madison Avenue.
My Project
The wireless slate will allow me to include my students more easily into the lesson. They can share they knowledge freely without the constant interruption of exiting their desk to come the the stationary Elmo. It can be quite an ordeal for a second grader to come to the front of class in our crowded room. Many are embarrassed to be in front of their peers. The wireless slate dispels that anxiety. Including all the students and supports our requirement to provide universal access to all those in our classroom.
This project signals to my class that they too are included in the technological revolution.
It isn't only for the schools across the tracks we too are special. Someone cares enough to help us out in these times where budgets are dwindling. It will show them how their work is important enough that it might help someone else who is struggling. It can be a real esteem builder. And we all know that can go a long way with a seven year old.
