Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is full of 25 energetic kindergarten students with big hearts and great minds. Located in a low socioeconomic area in Denver, students in this classroom are the most deserving group of hard workers!
The students work hard every day, and remote learning has been a challenge for families and students.
These kindergarten students are curious about the world around them and need the classroom space to explore things they may otherwise not have the chance to explore. Their minds are like sponges, and they are thirsty for knowledge in the classroom environment. Now that we need to be home, it is hard for them to build conceptual learning without having materials. It is a joy to work with such energetic students.
My Project
Students in my classroom struggle to access technology and have the supports needed to be successful through remote learning. They are so young and would benefit from materials at home with which they could practice skills they have learned before COVID.
Students still deserve the opportunity to learn and explore concepts at home.
Families need support with materials, access to school-related concepts, and they need some help while navigating their own situational events in this difficult time. Materials like paper, pencils, markers, paint, math sheets, journals, and flash cards will give them an opportunity to work at home with or without technology.
