I truly miss being in my classroom and I want to provide the best possible instruction for my students during this time. My students are being instructed through my daily Google Meeting virtual lessons and are engaging in on-line learning through various platforms. Thankfully, they are all in possession of school- donated chrome books. Unfortunately, students were not able to get back into the school to get any of their math, reading, and science workbooks. The material that I am presenting is in the form of pages that I have either downloaded, screen shot, or retyped for them to use for learning.
I am concerned about the need to present material visually, especially for the students in my class who have learning disabilities and have individualized education plans.
I am also trying to resume my instruction so as to make it seem as though we are still in the classroom, using the same materials we would if we were in school.
My Project
My students will benefit from the visual displays that I can provide during my remote learning sessions. The iPad will be connected to my laptop and this will help me to seamlessly display student workbook pages and other class materials (left behind in their desks which they are not able to retrieve). The apple stylus will provide me with a much needed tool to use for annotating displayed texts, showing how to work out math problems on displayed workbook pages, or demonstrating other concepts easily on my computer screen.
I want to ensure my students get the full benefit of any resources I can use to help them during these unprecedented times.
An added benefit of these resources that I am requesting is that they can be used when students return to school. The iPad and stylus can be used to mirror what I display on my classroom Smartboard. This allows me to easily move around the room with my iPad and stylus so that I can monitor and assist individual students, instead of being up the the front of my Smartboard for much of the day. These materials can also be used to create instructional videos that students can view if they need extra help in class or at home.
