Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are eager fourth grade students that have a love for learning. Our school has been closed since March and my students really miss coming to school. My school is located in a small urban area in South Florida.

My Project

I have six students who are siblings and they don't have access to a working laptop from home. They have told me that they are using their mom's cell phone to continue their distance learning. During times like this I know that it is hard for them to continue to learn but they are putting in the effort. I am in awe of their determination to continue to learn. They don't have access to a laptop because our school doesn't have anymore.

In order to help them I am requesting a laptop for all six of them to use at home during and after this pandemic.

One student is in first grade which is an important foundation year for kids who are learning to read. The twins are in my class and they are in fourth grade. There is one student in pre-k and that is also and important foundation year. The last two siblings are in fifth grade. They are all trying so hard. In order to not only keep them safe but I want to also help them continue to learn while they are at home.
