Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from a very diverse neighborhood in Springfield, both culturally and economically. Over ninety-five percent of students receive free or reduced-price student lunches. Each of my students come from a variety of different home lives, and most speak multiple languages including English, Spanish, and Somali. Our students are also diverse in their learning abilities. Some students speak little to no English while others are performing above grade level.
Despite the differences amongst my students, they all strive for success.
They put their best effort into learning every day and continue to work to become caring, accountable, and respectful scholars.
My Project
With this new journey of remote learning, students will need to be provided with everyday materials that we use at school. The dry erase markers, pocket sleeves, and notebooks will help them take a break from the computer and use a hands-on method to show their thinking. These new materials will allow students to show their work for math or organize their thoughts for reading and writing.
Although this year will look a little different, our students are eager learners and these materials will enrich their learning experiences from a remote setting.
