My students are energetic and excited little 5 and 6 year-olds. These little people are just beginning their educational journey. They are curious and enthusiastic learners. It is my goal to provide them with every opportunity, so they can find joy and success at school.
We live in a small, rural community that is high poverty.
Our main source of income, for our community, is a paper mill that is always on the verge of closing. Life in our community is unpredictable. The opportunities that are offered to my students are few.
Our school district tries so very hard to provide the students with every advantage that it can, but I know there is more for them out there. They want to learn and explore, and I want them to love school and get excited for the next 12 years of it!
My Project
During this world wide crisis it is a struggle for teachers and students to stay connected and continue the learning process.
We are requesting learning activities to use at home during this global pandemic.
These home learning games will give my students and their families meaningful activities that they can play together to keep a routine of learning and some normalcy in their days.
It is hard for kindergartners to use technology only for their remote learning. These activities are age appropriate and they teach important skills that my students will need to keep fresh in their little brains for when they return to school.
Fortunately, these activities offer different skills so that I can even differentiate what I give to each student. Some of my students are ready for subtraction while some are working on number and quantities. Some of them were ready for rhyming and others are refining their letter ID. These games will be very helpful for my students during this very hard time.
