Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are intelligent, innovative, and creative thinkers and learners. They keep me on my toes every single day. They really deserve the opportunity to succeed in a comfortable, safe learning environment during these scary times. Most of my students come from single-parent homes and one hundred percent live below the poverty line.
My students are considered at risk; they require ongoing intervention in order to succeed academically.
During remote learning, I am trying to recreate a learning space via the internet, that mimics the safe, academically rich environment our school classroom was.
These students deserve to have a remote learning classroom that helps them continue thinking, learning, and creating their ideas in a welcoming, comforting way where they can learn naturally. Thank you for considering to help us out!
My Project
The materials requested in this project will help execute highly effective lessons and create a sustainable and engaging distance learning experience for them. I will be able to go live and use material familiar to them. The most important goals of distance learning have been to maintain children’s positive outlook and continue to close the reading gap through guided reading lessons. These materials will be critical for academic success during remote learning. Using these resources will also continue to close the learning gap. Most teachers find ourselves suddenly unprepared for this new reality. I am one of those teachers. After being back in school to prepare for remote learning, we were abruptly told to evacuate the building because there were confirmed cases of colleagues testing positive.
