Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working in the poorest congressional district in the country, my students come in at a wide range of academic levels. I work in a South Bronx school where we work together to empower our students and provide them with opportunities they may not be exposed to at a Title I public school.
Moving to remote learning has proven to be a challenge for many, due to limited resources and stressful environments.
My students are extremely hardworking and creative, however, many have large gaps in knowledge and limited resources.
As a teacher, I make every effort to give my students many opportunities to extend their work and thinking to higher levels and to raise the bar on their own personal expectations.
My Project
My students have been working really hard ever since the transition to remote learning has happened. They have worked hard to overcome many struggles and have worked relentlessly to stay on top of their schoolwork.
This care package will provide snacks, books, puzzles, a daily journal, pens, and crafts to keep students entertained.
Many of my students have been home for over 6 weeks, and spend a lot of time worrying about their families and schoolwork. This care package will show them that we care about them and give them something to do with their spare time.
