My students are multi cultural and are different in so many ways but then yet again so similar. I am the Special Education resource room teacher who services special needs students on their difficulty accessing the least restrictive environment (general education classroom).
Sometimes they just require a listening ear, compassion and other times they need to sharpen their skills to compete with their peers.
My classroom was a safe place to "let their hair down" and shoot for the stars but unfortunately our school has closed due to COVID - 19, therefore, today remote learning is the new way we learn.
My Project
Can you imagine being a child who is not able to go back to school where you feel most comfortable and not see your friends and teachers for an unknown period of time? It has been such a struggle for my students to receive a quality education with remote learning.
I am a Special Education Teacher in a school where the majority of my students are from low income households and their parents do not speak English as their first language.
All of my students require their own individualized education program and they learn best with visuals. In my classroom I had all my materials but now I am asking for this tablet so I can continue to provide my students the learning that they desperately need. I can use it as a virtual wipe off board, video conferencing, and also be able to provide actionable feedback directly to my students. I am trying to make a bad situation bearable. Having this tablet as the main learning tool will open up many more doors for my students educational needs and emotional support. This tablet will provide a comfortable atmosphere, with familiar faces, and get them one step closer to being successful in this new learning environment!
