My Students

Our high school is a global family in a neighborhood community, educating students in a safe, nurturing, and intellectually challenging environment. Through collaborative and meaningful experiences, our students develop compassion, creativity, wisdom, perseverance and integrity to make a positive impact in Chicago and beyond.

Our school sits among several ethnic enclaves in the city.

We have over sixty languages spoken in our building and welcome students who have recently arrived to the USA from such countries as Iraq, Pakistan, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Turkey, Mexico, Central America, Haiti and Africa. We are a public neighborhood school which means that we accept all of the students within our geographical boundary that have not been accepted to a selective admission or charter school. Consequently, most of our students come in with little resources or supplies. No matter, because our student body is excited, motivated and ready to learn new things in a new culture​.

My Project

As I sit here on my couch practicing social distancing during these tough times, I am having difficulty finding the best way to connect with my students from home. Having a Macbook that I could make a video using iMovie to record some lessons for them and help them keep their spirits up during the quarantine would be a huge bonus. I currently am using my cellphone to do all this and the process is even more time consuming and difficult. Having a Macbook to do this on would streamline the process, making it happen quicker and more efficiently, so I can continue to maintain a connection with my students over the unforeseeable future.
