My Students

My students are in second grade and attend a Title I School. 99% of the students at our school have at least one parent serving in the military. They are constantly moving from school to school. I do my best to make sure they feel safe, loved, and welcomed. I also have a large population of students with special needs. They work hard and are excited to be at school every day.

Students who come from military families are resilient.

I make the transitions for them as easy as possible, and I welcome them and encourage them to be successful. I am amazed every day by the sacrifices these students and their parents have to make. I feel honored to teach these students. It is the least I can do to help support them.

My Project

My students will be researching important figures in history. I would love for each student to have a book to take home to use to help with their research process. They will be learning about important people from the past who have helped shape the world today. Each student will be presenting their biographies in front of the class. They will get a chance to dress up like the person and tell us all about his or her life.

Learning about the past will teach important lessons for the future.

The students will be learning about inspirational leaders. I want them to not only learn the facts about these important people, but also take away some important character traits these people possessed. I am trying to teach students the importance of over coming obstacles, perseverance, bravery, curiosity, creativity, and much more. What better way to teach these character traits than learning about people who lived their lives that way everyday. Thank you for taking the time to read our request.
