Every student in grades K-5 comes to the library every week. They love to learn more what they are discussing in class, as well as nurture their own curiosities. They are truly on their way to becoming lifelong readers.
Our students are eager to learn.
Starting our sixth year, we still face the challenge of filling our shelves with the books our students want to read. We have managed to build a decent collection in five years, but our students want more.
It is said that "a people who do not know their history are fated to repeat it." Understanding what generations before us have experienced, whether right or wrong, teaches us how to better ourselves today.
Knowing our past has more control over our future than we choose to believe.
Providing books about prominent historical events enables our scholars to think about why events unfolded the way they did. It is one thing to know that the Holocaust existed. It is another thing entirely to understand why it happened. Embracing our past, whether negative or positive, allows us to fully understand our future.
