Mrs. Gaiter from Tujunga CA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students a wonderful book to read that will teach them about the civil rights movement and how everyone can make a difference to make the world a better place.

My students are 21st century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 30 curious fourth grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
I don't wait until Black History Month to teach my students about the important contributions African Americans have made, and continue to make in our society. Throughout the year, we read about people from different cultures and walks of life. I always strive to teach them about historical figures from the past as well as those who are living today. That is why I am requesting a class set of "A Ride to Remember" for my students.
The past meets the present in this wonderful true story!
By reading this book, my students will learn about how a small child can and did make a big difference in the world, and perhaps inspire them to do the same.
