My Students
My students, in kindergarten to 5th grade, are amazing, eager children who are determined to succeed, but need extra support where it comes to math and science.
Despite needing extra support, my students are very curious and love to ask questions.
My students love to learn, inquire, collaborate, and participate in activities that challenge them and require them to dig deeper in a loving, supportive, and creative classroom environment that integrates literacy and STEM. My goal is that they become 21st-century students ready to conquer life's challenges. Students at our school are both socioeconomically and culturally/ethnically diverse.
Our theme this year is "Lights Camera Action: Where Students Are Our Main Attraction," and I'm ready to help my students shine and reach their full potential.
My Project
I am requesting three professional development books related to math intervention that will allow me to meet students where they are and extend what they are learning by enhancing their academic proficiency and growth. I will use the books to enhance my students' mathematical understanding while creating engaging math tasks and activities.
Math manipulatives and games help make intervention more engaging and helps students retain skills more so than worksheets.
The math games, geometric blocks, stamps, number lines and more will reinforce math concepts and build synapses that will help students retain such concepts. The erasers will be used as incentives and the plastic envelopes will store the games that we create.
We are trying to close the achievement gap and these resources will help meet our students' needs.
