My students are AWESOME! They are energetic, eager to learn and curious about the world around them. I work in a small, rural, Title I school on the north shore of our island. My students have a beautiful and diverse mix of ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic backgrounds and life experiences. For many of my students, kindergarten is their first formal educational setting as we lack preschools in our area.
I love that my students are movers and shakers!
They keep me on my toes and continue to teach me the value of being flexible as a teacher because life and my students are forever changing.
My students would benefit from more flexible seating options in the classroom to choose from. I have a couple of wobble chairs in my class now, and they do wonders for students who need to always be in motion. Balance balls have also been a favorite in the past, but have a shorter lifespan around five-year-olds.
Kindergarten boys and girls are some of the most energetic and eager learners I have come across in my teaching career.
A double-sided easel will help me organize my instructional materials in one convenient spot. The easel will benefit my students because we will have a perfect writing surface for whole group writing activities and small group learning opportunities. I am most looking forward to using the easel for our Morning Message and Student of the Day interviews.
