Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hooking reluctant readers is extremely hard. Sometimes it just takes one book or an interesting character to hook the most reluctant readers.
I teach third grade in an inner-city school with all second language learners.
Many of my students are significantly below grade level. We know the key to reading is to READ but it is hard to hook some of my boys. I have found a character that has done just that. I have 2 books from this series and my boys keep begging me to get more.
My Project
My students need books such as the Geronimo Stilton Series, that are high interest for my reluctant boy readers. These books can light the fire for my boys to become more interested in reading. My goal each year to instill of love of reading if it hasn't been sparked yet. These books will be a welcome addition to my library. I am sure the boys will line up to read these books.
