I teach at a very dynamic elementary school in a very diverse area. My students come from all walks of life and make up a unique group of learners.
Our school is a warm, nurturing place where students love to come each day to work together and learn from one another.
The children bring out the best in one another. Our goal is to develop the mind and character of each unique child so that they are the best version of themselves.
My Project
My students love Cynthia Rylant's Mr. Putter and Tabby books. I have purchased many throughout the years, however these are the books that are loved to death and sometimes don't get returned.
Many of my students are reluctant readers and do not have books at home to read.
It will be thrilling for them to have the opportunity to read and cherish these books in our room and to borrow them and read at home. The fact that they want to take these books home and read them, choose them during free time and tell me that they're waiting for another child to return one of her books so they can read a new adventure of Mr. Putter's speaks for itself.
These books have also gotten many children into wanting to read harder chapter books since her books have 3 chapters and give the children confidence. This is a big deal!
Who wouldn't love a man that makes a sling shot out of poodle underwear, has a cat that bats at sparkles, has a friend that is sure pets are allowed on trains (and they're not), and a dog that does the tango!
