Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are awesome! Despite all they go through, they love to come to school, for many it is their safe space. My adolescent students love to read anything new they can get their hands on. Unfortunately they mostly rely solely on the reading material and supplies that we have in our classroom library. 100% of my students receive free/reduced lunch based on their socioeconomic status. I'm hoping to engage my reluctant readers and writers so I can continue to foster those who already love to read and write.
My Project
TIME For Kids is TIME magazine for students. It will help students read important informational texts in a reliable, contained online site. Students will be able to begin to read informational texts on current events as well as the historical past online. As state testing transitions online at our school, this program will allow students to become familiar with reading online.
40 subscriptions to TIME Edge For Kids will provide students unlimited access at school and at home to the site.
It will help students become better at accessing texts through technology, a skill that is rapidly becoming a must in education as well as with content in ELA, History, and Science.
