My students love to sing and play instruments. We have fun playing music games and learning about how music works. Each class comes ready to learn and leaves the classroom excited and smiling. These students come from a community with many families struggling to make ends meet. We do a lot with very little resources. Our music room is a shared space, but these kids work hard and make amazing music despite the distractions.
They especially need the stimulation and creativity that music provides.
Even though they face tough circumstances in the community, the students enjoy learning and have a great sense of humor.
I often hear the sad voices when music class is over! These kids are amazing young people who deserve some adequate tools for their music education.
My Project
Our chorus needs a piano that will stay in tune and doesn't constantly need repair to keep it going. I would love to press a note and know what pitch I will hear, and we will hear the right pitch with this piano!
Our kids love to sing and perform well and this will help us learn to sing correctly.
They will know exactly what the accompaniment actually sounds like before we get to the performance venue. I will be able to demonstrate musical styles without the students wondering why the piano sounds weird. This piano includes a cover that will protect the keys. My students will be able to hear the sound instead of crowding around it during rehearsals.
