Relentless Photo Coverage of Every Student at Least Three Times
Help me give my students the resources they need to make the best yearbook possible. The addition of this camera will make a significant difference in the ability of the students to cover events occurring simultaneously.
My yearbook staff is planning triple coverage of every student enrolled at my school. This means extra hours visiting school clubs, athletic events, dances, academic competitions, and other school events. It also means finding students who don't participate in extracurricular events and creating features that highlight these individuals.

The class ranges from 10th through 12th grade students representing a wide range of socio-economic, ethnic, and needs backgrounds. We have two cameras for the 21 staff members and they are doing a great job sharing the resources. The staff is seriously dedicated in their coverage of the school year and in creating a fantastic book.
My Project
The Sony Alpha series is a fabulous teaching tool allowing a student to go from no knowledge of photography – leaving the camera on full auto using "spray and pray" – to full manual control with a range of scaffolded intermediate control between. The changeable lenses produce a platform for experimentation and flexibility in a compact footprint. Unlike the single lens reflex cameras based on film technology, the body format of the Sony Alpha series cameras leverages smartphone design and user interface making the camera more accessible to students for whom photography exists as a digital, rather than analog, medium. The interface and flexibility of these cameras will help to make solid photographers of each member of the yearbook staff, this year and for years to come.
Additionally, the camera supports at least 8 of my state's content standards related to the yearbook class.
