Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a large, evolving socially diverse urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. Much of their experience is troubling and they are here for a better life. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have seventy-five English Language Learners (ELL) students in my classroom. Free breakfast and free lunch are available to every child in our building each day, which are now remotely served.
They inspire me to discover and master new ways to provide meaningful and impactful learning experiences remotely in this time of disruption and innovation.
My students are creative, clever and very committed about relevant learning for their future. Most of my students read and perform below grade level in mathematics. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in our newly established distance remote learning platform. As of March 17th, my students will be learning at home. School will be closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the foreseeable future.
My Project
Relentless is the true story of how one person turned around a whole school just like mine. We will be reading this book in online video presentations to each other to inspire students to be relentless and continue studying when there is no one physically there to see them and inspire them. We will increase their mental toughness and fortitude. We are out to increase students daily time on task with challenging learning material when they are home alone without their super supportive teacher. These words are meant to have impact that stays with them, resounding in their memory, inspiring them to keep up their lessons.
We need to be able to pick them up when they have emotionally withdrawn.
This Laptop case and USB male adapter will allow the full adaptability of existing technology while the Logitech MX anywhere wireless mouse will stop the pain in my wrists that we have from doing everything online. So that I can continue to be there for them. Help me teach online by making the use of my computer easy and comfortable. These materials fill out the needed resources to be able to teach from home. We need to be able to move so our body and mind do not atrophy.
