Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are Autistic and have severe learning difficulties. Most of their learning is done by using technology and hands on activities to help relieve their anxiety. They enjoy doing most of their work on their iPad. My students are hands on learners and enjoy staying busy while having fun.

We are located in a high poverty area.

My students are from different grade levels from Kindergarten to fifth grade. Every day is a different day and full of surprises with my students.

My Project

This punching bag will help my students understand what is a safe way to release their frustrations and energy and build up their muscles in a safe environment. We can use this bag in the classroom in our sensory corner to teach the students where they need to go when they are feeling overly anxious or frustrated and need a break.

Some of our students have severe behaviors and need a safe place or object to go to in order to release that energy in order to help them concentrate and refocus themselves to their academics.

The students like to slap or hit objects like a table or a wall, the bag would provide them with a safe place to go to exert these behaviors.
