I will be teaching 3rd grade in a public elementary school in Southern California. A majority of the students on campus come from low-income households and some of my students will be English language learners. Although I have not met my students for this school year yet, I am expected to have around 25 students in the classroom.
I anticipate that my students will have curious minds and be enthusiastic about learning.
My students will be visiting the classroom library to discover great stories and learn new things in every book!
My Project
I am requesting a book display and two bean bag chairs in order to make our classroom library more inviting and relaxing for my students. Currently the books are only on bookshelves, so the book display would highlight some of the books and encourage the students to read books that they might have otherwise overlooked. The bean bag chairs would provide the students a further incentive to visit our classroom library when they finish their classwork. After they select a book they are interested in, they will be able to relax on the bean bag chairs. This will make their reading time an even more enjoyable experience.
My goal is to encourage my students to enjoy reading as much as possible.
Reading will help them expand their vocabulary and increase their content knowledge. The items that I am requesting would be great tools in helping my students achieve this goal!
