Help me give my students a bean bag chair for a way to relax when they are stressed out. Their are times when sitting alone is required and doing so in a desk or on a folding chair is not the best way.
The students in my class are wonderful! They are hard workers as they have to face difficulties not only in the classroom, but outside the safety of the educational environment. They are constantly battling their way to achieve goals they never once thought they could. They simply need some guidance.
Students who struggle with emotions tend to go one of two extremes: withdrawn or over exertion.
It is my goal to help control their thoughts and deal with their struggles.
In a small setting, these students are able to speak freely, regulate thoughts/emotions, and get the help/support they need to succeed in the classroom and in their future endeavors in society. A lot of hard work goes on in the classroom as we have to have "tough" conversations and deal with "real-life" situations that go on outside the walls of the school. Without these teachings, the students aren't actually learning to handle/control their feelings and emotions.
Students will be able to use the bean bag chair in the relaxation corner of the room to help relax/decompress/relieve stress when the time arises. Using a corner of the room where students can go to "get away" from things is beneficial to their mental and physical well-being.
The bean bag chair will be loved by all students as it is easier to get comfortable and relax compared to a metal folding chair or desk.
Bean bags allow the students to submerse themselves in full relaxation.
With the addition of a large bean bag chair the students will have a place where they can close their eyes and practice calming strategies while using their "tool box" of strategies to re-engage in the classroom setting.
