My second graders walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. They deserve a comfortable space that provides them with an environment to learn to their fullest potential. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career. Our public elementary school serves PreK-6th grade and is located in Northern Minnesota. The focus on our children and their learning is outstanding in our community!
My Project
When my second graders see this new addition to our classroom, they will be extremely excited to find a book to read. This alternative seating, pillows and carpet will give them a productive and comfortable space to relax and enjoy a good book. We will be listening to stories, reading, learning and collaborating in this "homey" area. These non-traditional chairs will help the kiddos be more attentive, more comfortable, and allow for some movement. As a teacher, I understand that my students not only need subject matter, but I need to create an environment that is exciting, more comfortable and fosters learning.
