My Project

I have a special bond with my students. They are amazing students who all have different lifestyles and living arrangements. From two parent households to those who are currently in DCF care, they all have moments where they need a break from the academic rigor of school. Some of my students experience depression, anxiety, sadness and sometimes even suicidal ideations which is hurtful but real. The effects of covid have severely affected this generation of children and through my work I have realized that just being able to take a break, relax, unwind, listen to music, play a game, use a fidget, or sometimes just sitting and having a treat has helped some of my students reset and regulate themselves so that they could finish out the rest of the day in a positive manner. In addition it has helped me with building relationships with the students which allowed them to talk to me about things they felt they couldn't talk to anyone about. These resources will be used to help me as I focus on the social emotional and mental aspect of my students. All of my students are special in their own way and this will help me as i continue to create a safe and supportive space for my students.
