My students are hardworking, motivated, and persistent. The students I see come to my reading classroom to improve their phonics, reading, comprehension, and fluency skills. They understand the importance of reading and how reading will help them soar to new places in life.
My students come to school each and every day ready to learn and conquer new tasks, despite challenges at home.
My school is located in Phoenix, and a majority of the students come from a low income families. Being a Title I school, most students eat breakfast and lunch at school. School is their safe place to learn academics and social skills.
My Project
Classroom light filters will provide the kindergarten through third grade students who come to the reading room with a soothing classroom environment. Reading students will be able to focus on their reading skills without being distracted by harsh glare and bright fluorescent lights.
Classroom light filters will improve students academic performance and reading skills because they will be able to focus with improved concentration and reduced eye strain and headaches .
The light filters will create a more natural lighting experience for the students and reduce distractability. It will even improve students' sleep cycles by increasing the natural light students are exposed to and help their bodies produce melatonin and seratonin.
