My Students
Our school serves students in grades PK-5 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment.
I teach at a Title I school in Southern California where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
One challenge is our lack of comfortable seating when reading books from our classroom library. I want to create a classroom library that students love to visit and encourages reading in a relaxing environment.
My students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
We need some comfortable seating for my Kinders to sit on and enjoy reading. Currently, plastic chairs are the only seats in my classroom. I am trying to get the students interested in reading by trying to cater to their needs/wants. One thing I hear over and over is how uncomfortable it is to read in the plastic chairs.
Many classrooms have flexible seating that are fun and inviting for students to read on.
I want this for my students as well.
Once students get interested in reading, test scores and classroom grades will rise. Please consider donating so we can get comfy seating to encourage and foster their love of reading.
