My Students
My students are curious and ready to learn about the country and world around them through books. This year, especially, they are in need of books that will help them escape the reality of quarantine. I am excited to introduce them to books in which they feel represented and books which give them experiences outside their own realm.
My Project
This book will be the way we connect as a group for the beginning of the year.
The main character is a Latinx character, sharing the same language as many of my students.
The incorporation of Spanish throughout the story will give my ELs for whom Spanish is a first language the ability to share their expertise.
We will keep a journal in which we study his character traits and the themes we encounter while relating to his experiences during our ELA. We will also write about our life to book connections we encounter.
