This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Our school is working on a new literacy project that will allow our students to collaborate with younger students and share stories with them that are relatable. Studies show that stories with characters that represent the reader are more interesting reads for children. I am a huge advocate for representation and stories for the youth.
The books requested in this project are not only about black children but written by black authors.
These books will be excellent resources for our classroom library as well as resources to be pulled out every February and share with the class. The students will explore the different stories and also share the stories in reading sessions with younger students.
