The students in my classroom are sixth graders with a wide range of interests, skills, and life experiences. Some of my students are avid readers, but many of my students are still working to discover that passion of reading that is so important.
It makes me so happy when my students approach me and discuss the books that they are reading.
Seeing students who’ve typically struggled finding texts that interest them finally find that book that captivates them motivates me to provide the best instruction and materials that I can for these 6th graders that I care so much about.
My Project
When students have the ability to experience new, tangible books in their hands, new opportunities are presented. While many of my students enjoy reading, some struggle to find texts that interest them.
My goal is to revamp my classroom library and put books into the hands of students with unique reading interests.
Many of the students in my classroom have never been able to open a brand-new book, and this experience may be just what it takes to help them find their love of reading. With so many different skill sets and reading interests, it is so important to me to make sure all students can find something that will captivate them and provide some extra motivation to read.
