Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a bilingual classroom full of eager learners that love the use of technology. They are funny, dedicated, brilliant, kind, inquiring minds who rise to any academic challenge presented to them. Our school has a large ELL population and high needs for differentiation and authentic learning experiences. Many of them lack access to technology in the home which motivates us to provide these tools for our students at school even more.
At least once a day, you will find my whole class actively engaged in the use of technology.
Every day they use the internet for independent reading or conducting research on a topic we are learning. My students love being able to answer their own questions by conducting a quick search on Google. They are independent learners that deserve to have technology to support their curiosity.
My Project
Adding the Amazon Kindles to my classroom will provide students with increased access to reliable internet for research. Additionally, they will be able to use Google Docs and Slides to to help students complete projects more rapidly and with greater ease. Students will be able to practice skills that they they will need later on in the educational careers.
The Kindle fires will allow my students to have access to thousands of valuable resources at their fingertips.
These tablets allow for my students further access to a wide and enriching variety of online information and resources, such as allowing them to choose from a diverse selection of both audio and visual books.
