My students need lots of experiences with math manipulatives. Rekenreks are great resources for teaching and reinforcing base 10 math concepts. I would like a class set so we can explore visual math sense.
Our class is a self-contained kindergarten classroom in an elementary school of about 450 students. Our school is located in a smaller city in south central Kentucky. We have students with a wide variety of ability levels. We are a "Leader In Me" school and we embrace the idea of our students learning to be leaders at a young age! Our students are excited about learning and we want to give them the tools they need to be their best!
In kindergarten, we are building the base for helping our students learn number sense. It is so important that our kindergartens understand patterns and quantities when they talk about numbers.
Rekenreks help our students better understand our base 10 number system!
This is so important for understanding the patterns of numbers. These manipulative will help teach our students the 5's and 10's of numbers through 20.
This class set will allow me to teach with a large model and each student will have their own rekenrek to manipulate and see the values of the numbers and operations we are teaching.
