Help me give my students current, up-to-date books they can relate to and enjoy reading. Included are Rush Revere books, related to American History since students learn about the American Revolution in 5th grade.
Our students are diverse culturally and economically. The school serves students in PreK through fifth-grade, including a unit for students with Autism. We have over 600 students. The school provides programs such as Pack-a-Sack of food for students for the weekend, parent workshops, parent breakfasts, before and after school learning clubs, and STEM classes. Our school just qualified as a Title 1 school, so our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Independent reading books would be a great addition to my classroom.
I teach Language Arts, therefore my classroom continually needs chapter books and picture books to replenish our old, out-dated books. Students take books home to read and sometimes return as worn and misused books. The interests of our students are important when considering books. My goal is to hook students into reading through inviting, exciting, relevant, and current books.
My Project
Rejuvenate our classroom library with up-to-date reading books. The books you help purchase will allow students of various reading levels to choose books to read on their level that interests them.
Chapter books, history content books, girl books, boy books, picture books, and mystery books were carefully selected to peek the interests of my fifth-grade students.
New books related to history may increase students' curiosity about our American History. Books can empower girls to think about being a president or an astronaut. Boys may find joy in reading books about scouts, mysteries, or dragons. Lastly, a book based in Florida, our home state, about a gator, but addressing important issues such as the ecosystem has been a favorite for our summer curriculum.
