Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of working in an urban, public, elementary school, where language immersion offers a curriculum infused with global awareness and cultural competence at every grade level. Students receive instruction for half the day in English and half the day in either Spanish or Japanese.
As an English Language Arts teacher, I also integrate social studies learning.
My mission is to create a democratic, safe, empowering, learning environment; a place where young minds are eager to learn in a fun and dynamic way!
My Project
Recess is a time for children to release energy and reduce stress which may improve attention and can reduce disruptive behaviors in the classroom. Through play, kids will learn to make friends and solve problems.
To encourage, active, cooperative play during recess time, I need your help to provide inexpensive playground equipment.
As the season becomes warmer and drier, kids are naturally drawn to go outside and having sidewalk chalk will enhance their motor skills and imagination! Students will learn to communicate by negotiating and sharing supplies and equipment. Additionally, having various balls, hula-hoops and jump-ropes will help students develop muscle strength, coordination and self-confidence.
