Reinforcing Reading With Fine Arts

Help me give my students these art materials, especially the plaster wrap, Model Magic and air dry clay so that I can reinforce classroom learning.

My Project

I’m a certified teacher working as the art teacher in this incredible K-6 school. I am building their art curriculum and supplies to support their classroom teachers and reinforce reading/ language arts skills, as well as integrate fine arts into their math, social studies, and science curriculum.

4th grade will be using the clay, to explore pottery as part of their social studies unit; 6th grade will be using the plaster to make 3 dimensional sculptures based on art from world cultures; kindergarten uses the Construction Paper Crayons for part of a reading/ science unit based on the story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, by Eric Carle.

All of the grade levels use the various materials to explore the elements of art, which I tie into their regular course curriculum as applicable.
