My students need the powered studio monitors to provide high-quality output from electronic synthesizers for performances and the wireless microphone system is needed for essential vocal sound reinforcement at our concerts, drama productions, etc.
My students come from many different socio-economic backgrounds. Some of their families have trouble just making ends meet let alone being able to provide their kids with functional instruments, concert uniforms, and cover the day-to-day expenses of participating in a very active music program.
Regardless of background, however, the students have a great work ethic and toil tirelessly to create a product of which the community is very proud.
We encourage them to think big and strive to provide them with experiences that many may never again have in their lives. In order to do that we must get creative in the ways in which we acquire the equipment and materials needed for such an endeavor as our yearly operating budget is small.
Nothing excites the kids more than being able to perform after having spent so many hours in rehearsal. It would be wonderful to be able to provide them with quality equipment in order to help them to realize their dreams and to sound their absolute best!
My Project
Students can spend hour upon hour in the practice room and rehearsal hall, but imagine if all that hard work could never be appreciated simply because the audience couldn't hear them!
One of the instruments our percussionists, in particular, rely upon is an electronic mallet synthesizer, however, being electronic, the instrument must be connected to high-quality powered audio monitors in order to be heard.
This is true for both the student performer and the audience. One of the included speakers is designed to give the audience a big, full sound while the smaller is meant for the student performers to be able to hear themselves as they play.
Likewise, a student vocal soloist has no chance of being heard over our 150-member chorus without a high-quality microphone. This wireless system allows them freedom of movement which is important in our highly choreographed work.
Each of these items will be replacing older equipment that has either failed or is being made obsolete due to the sale of wireless frequencies by the U.S. government. We relied heavily on the older versions of this technology and without a replacement, our program and ensembles will be negatively impacted.
