In a small town in Central Florida live 5th grade students from hard working families. These students are active learners who have a thirst for knowledge and a love of school. They enjoy learning new things and sharing their knowledge and their work with the class.
My 5th grade students are curious and innovative.
They participate in the science fair, love STEM projects, collaboration, and enjoy hands-on learning activities. These 5th graders spend their day immersed in authentic literacy and they love to participate in collaborative assignments.
My Project
Having a stationary document camera restricts movement and creates a classroom display that is not much more useful than the old-fashioned overhead projector. However, a wireless document camera creates a flexible classroom environment that enhances instruction and collaborative learning.
Reimagining how you display information for students gives educators, like me, an opportunity to seek technology that will support good instruction and student learning.
Imagine not being locked into one location in the classroom where you model a lesson or display student work. Picture what it would be like to move the document camera from group to group (or student to student) during a lesson to display student work as learning is taking place. Can you imagine how a wireless document camera can provide opportunities for discussion that will enhance the lesson?
What if this document camera could also provide opportunities to collaborate with other classrooms? With the flexibility of the IPEVO VZ-X, I could also use it as a web camera and pair it with applications like Google Meet in order to share student work and as a tool to facilitate collaborative lessons with other teachers and students in our own school or another school around the world.
