Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Rehmer’s Readers are k-5 students at B. Elementary School. They are a community of readers who love books and love to read. Rehmer’s Readers gather daily to read books independently and participate in shared reading. We discuss and critically think about the books we are reading together to decipher a deeper meaning of the characters and the authors purpose. In doing so we would like to explore the world of our reading beyond the 4 walls of our library and classroom with the aid of technology.
My Project
If fully funded this digital tablet will help take my students beyond the 4 walls of my classroom and our library. It will enable students to communicate with other students from diverse backgrounds across the globe using Skype and Google hangouts, work on fundamental phonics and phonemic awareness literacy skills with learning apps to I crease decoding and comprehension, make international connections about who we are reading about and what we’re reading with Google maps and Google My Maps, open the doors of literacy with Epic Books and Audible, and serve as a publishing platform using the Google Suite of apps and other assistive apps.
