This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am the school nurse at an elementary school where a vast majority of the students are having ailments due to basic needs such as adequate nutrition, hydration, and hygiene. I spend so much of my time, resources, energy, and mind space dedicated to where I can try and stretch funds further and buy as much as I can to help the students at the school.

Many students in my classrooms come in saying they have difficulty completing school work because of lack of supplies: having missed meals, not enough to eat/drink.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in the students' learning by helping students have the right building blocks of essential nutrition and hydration to fuel their growing brains.

We all know how much harder our day is without proper meals.

Just think of how much a growing brain needs to help students focus on the task on hands. These young bright minds are becoming our future leaders and visionaries.

Your contribution will help these students have more time in the classroom and have less headaches and fatigue. So many of the students come to the clinic because of not having had enough to eat. How quickly they devour snacks and juices is a further testament to the fact the community is fragile with funding essential nutrients for the students.

So many students are not sleeping well because of not having much for dinner the night before. Headaches, stomachaches, fatigue, and anxiety all can be curbed with the nutrients we are providing these students.
