This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school I work at is a title 1 school, where a majority are getting a free and reduced lunch. The unique factor we have is that we are an all girls public school. Our mission is to empower these young girls; we do this through relationships, academics, and wellness. We are given the privilege to "grow" girls into young successful woman. Curriculum today does not address the social and emotional needs of students. Therefore, as a teacher I find ways to supplement.

My Project

My students NEED books and stories that they can connect to. Where they may see themselves in the characters and stories. I will use this book to teach culture, acceptance, what it means to be a strong woman, justice and power. Curriculum today does not address the social and emotional needs of students. Therefore, as a teacher I find ways to supplement. They deserve to learn more than what is in a textbook. I will pull nonfiction materials as well to support the text, therefore using whole approach teaching. Please help me do this by donating to my project. These books will be used by students every year, therefore reaching hundreds of young woman.
